Fall Nature Walk – Trees

I’m entering this post into ABC’s and 123’s Saturday Show and Tell and for The Magic Onion’s Friday’s Nature Table.

We had one sunny 70 degree day in the middle of a few weeks of cold and rainy days. We took advantage of the beautiful day to go on a nature walk, snap some pictures, and collect some leaves.

We found red berries on our first tree.

This low tree/bush was both green and red with berries

I just love the golden and rust color of this tree in the middle of two green trees.

Tree sap from a tree I forgot to take a picture of. The tree was mostly devoid of leaves and we were pleasantly surprised to see the tree sap.    We were also surprised that it was hard and not sticky at all.  It must have been there for a while and dried on the bark.  We were able to take some home with us.

    TMB –

Thanks for the inspiration. It’s fun to participate in the blog link-ups and see what kinds of things other people do.

I definitely will be participating because it gives some focus to what we do when we go out on our walks.

    🙂

  3. I love the tree sap find! How beautiful. I wish we could have seen it. No matter how many times we are out in nature, God always blesses us with some new and amazing find.

    Yes, isn’t that the truth?

I went back out today to take more pictures and pick leaves for some projects for us to do. Much fun and beauty to behold!

Thanks Adriana. I kinda think they turned out pretty neat. And we’ve had gray, cold wet days since then and it actually warms me up from the inside and cheers me up to see these pictures.

I love the pictures of the tree sap! That is one thing I don’t see very often and don’t know that much about. What a great fall walk!

Yes, me too. Especially since I’m reading a chapter out of Little House in the Big Woods to my oldest every night and we came to the chapter about Sugar Snow – making maple syrup/sugar from the maple trees.

I’m not sure what kind of tree it is, but it’s probably a species of maple, there are LOTS of maple trees around here.

What beautiful pictures! How cool that you were able to take them out to experience nature like this!

Andrea. I think it’s very cool that this beauty was just outside our door…simply by walking around the neighborhood, in the middle of suburbia.
